Q: What is Cashmere?
Ans: Cashmere is the finest, softest and warmest wool found in the nature. It comes from the underbelly of the mountainous goat called " Capra Hircus" in the remote Himalayas 14,000 ft above the sea level. Each Cashmere hair is 1/6th diameter of human hair.
Q: What is the difference between Cashmere and Pashmina?
Ans: Technically we can consider Pashmina and Cashmere as same. Two different names of the same product. The name "cashmere" derived from the Kashmir the northern India and the Pashmina is derived from the word Pashm. A pashmina is a type of goat endemic to Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh regions of India. Its fleece has been used for thousands of years to make high-quality shawls that also bear the same name. They are known for softness and warmth. Pashmina is simply "cashmere." The name is more appropriate, corresponding to a local term for wool, while cashmere reflects the colonialist perspective -- the [noted] fabric of Kashmir.

Q: What is the Technical Information of Cashmere?
Ans: Once the raw cashmere hairs are sold to mills (primarily in Italy, Scotland, and China) then to be converted into yarn, other factors come into consideration. Some factories will pick through the raw material by hand to separate out the mud and grass (the most effective, time-consuming, and thus expensive technique); others simulate the process by machine; and some simply skip straight to the spinning (the process by which the hairs become yarn). Asian factories have detailed workmanship and are especially suited for labor intensive and embellished garments.
Q: How do I care my cashmere stuffs?
Ans: Cashmere should me professionally dry clean only. For stubborn stains it is recommended to pre treat your cashmere before dry clean. To iron your cashmere stuffs, always use a plain paper or white clean thin cloth to cover it and iron in low heat. When, not using your cashmere store it in dry and cool place.
Q: Why cashmere is expensive?
Ans: A simple case of supply and demand. The annual cashmere "crop", in tonnage, is only a fraction of that of wool or cotton. A goat will only produce about 4 ounces of fine cashmere fleece in a year. This means it would take 3 years for a goat to produce enough cashmere for one woman's sweater, 4 years for one man's sweater.
